recollection).<\/p>\n<p>Eid al-Fitr means\u00a0<em><i>Banquet of charity<\/i><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0<em><i>feast of breaking the fast<\/i><\/em>.\u00a0Linguistically there are two possible meanings for the word &#8216;Fitr&#8217;.\u00a0On the one hand it is said that it derives from the word\u00a0<em><i>fatar<\/i><\/em>\u00a0which means\u00a0<em><i>break<\/i><\/em>.\u00a0Others suggest that it comes from fitrah or\u00a0<em><i>alms<\/i><\/em>.\u00a0And for some Sunni Muslims it comes from fitrat,\u00a0<em><i>nature<\/i><\/em>, and the\u00a0it\u00a0is the celebration of God&#8217;s magnanimity in rendering nature to man.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5196\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is a religious festival that is celebrated from the first day of the new moon in Shawwal, the tenth month, and\u00a0<strong><b>lasts for three days<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0in which sweets and dates are the protagonists.<\/p>\n<p>The festival <strong>originated <\/strong>when\u00a0the Prophet Mohammad announced a day of celebration<strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>to reaffirm the feeling of brotherhood\u00a0after proclaiming Ramadan as the period of fasting and austerity.\u00a0In this way <strong>women prepare sweets<\/strong>\u00a0at home, where noodles cooked in milk is the most popular.\u00a0Then the people meet to chat and share experiences.\u00a0Some people visit the cemeteries and stay there for hours, or even camping until the next day, in order\u00a0to\u00a0<strong><b>honor their ancestors<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and to be with their spirits.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Food traditions for Eid al-Fitr<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" family life in general, so it certainly plays an important role in the celebration of any holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Until the day of Eid al-Fitr, many women are busy in the kitchen, preparing Moroccan cookies and pastries.\u00a0Others prefer to buy cookies and sweets from a local\u00a0bakery shop,\u00a0or they can order sweets from a local woman who runs a home bakery business.<\/p>\n<p><img to Morocco\u00a0during the Eid al-Fitr,\u00a0you will find that the shops are filled with consumers to buy the clothes that will be premiered during the party, sweets for family and friends, and gifts for the little ones.<\/p>\n<p>Food aside, Eid al-Fitr is primarily a religious holiday.\u00a0Therefore, for many Moroccans, the day begins quite early, as many Muslims go to their local mosque for the morning sermon.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Muslim prayer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Families eat dates before praying\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/1578196714595.jpg\" gather for festive meals, or individual families may want to eat at home, before walking to the mosque for the\u00a0<strong><b>prayers<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>. <\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><b>Men wear white<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0because it symbolizes white purity and austerity.\u00a0These prayers can be read at any time between sunrise and until traditionally reserved\u00a0as\u00a0family affairs in Morocco.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, believers celebrate the end of Ramadan by <strong>visiting homes<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><b>eating special dishes cooked for this occasion<\/b><\/strong>.\u00a0Everyone sits together so that they can talk.\u00a0And it is when the children receive the gifts, and the sweets delivered by their loved ones are distributed as a symbol of love.<\/p>\n<p>While gift giving and decoration of houses and public places can spread in the West or in other parts of the Muslim world, Moroccan festivities are Mubarak<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong><strong><em><b><i>.<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Eid refers to the festival itself and Mubarak means Happy, Blessed.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>It\u2019s a day for empathy to the Qur&#8217;an, every Muslim who is free and in possession of a dignified capital for alms and free of all debt burden, is obligatory to give alms.\u00a0These alms, called\u00a0<strong><b>Sadaqah Fitr, is given to the poor in Eid al-Fitr<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, to ensure that even the poor can\u00a0enjoy the holiday, all heads of households are required to sacrifice food to those who\u00a0are in\u00a0need on behalf of each family member.\u00a0Food usually takes the form of essentials, such as wheat or flour.\u00a0This charity is called Sunset al-Fitr or Sadaqa Al-Fitr and becomes mandatory on the day of Eid Al-Fitr.
