This day will be dedicated to the rocky landscape of the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorges
Both of these places are an essential stop for any photographer, for their grandeur and diversity of colors.
We follow the “Route of the Thousand Kasbahs”, to Kalaat M’gouna – The City of Roses, a city popular for growing Damascus roses.
These roses are grown by local Berber communities in small family cooperatives. The ideal time to visit Kalaat M’Gouna is in late April and early May, when the roses are in full bloom, filling the valley with its intoxicating aroma. No doubt there will be an opportunity to capture images of pink carpets formed by an immense amount of this flower.
Then we arrive at the Dades Valley, an arid valley that surprisingly also hides a lush nature, which can be contracted along its mountains.
There is a very interesting walk that is possible here called “The Monkey Fingers Hike”. The name refers to the shape of the stones, which resemble the fingers of a monkey.
Finally, we arrive at the gorges of the Todra Gorges, imposing rocky cliffs that reach 600 meters high, separated by only 10 m wide and extend for several kilometers.

Highlight of the day: Zagora desert, Astronomy night, Desert photography
In the morning, head towards Zagora, on what used to be the route of commercial caravans that crossed the entire desert.
On the way to Zagora we always follow the Draa valley. We can stop at the Fint oasis, at the beginning of the Draa valley, where, in the midst of an arid landscape, lunch in this place.
Visit the small village of Zagora and have a first contact with the desert. You can also go earlier to the accommodation and enjoy the Hamam and Spa of the Hotel. The Sahara desert begins here.
Astronomy night Workshop
The night will be spent in a private Kasbah where you can still feel the medieval lifestyle. This Kasbah/ hotel is connected to the Sahara Sky, the first private astronomical observatory with sophisticated telescopes in Morocco, available to guests after dinner, subject to good visibility conditions.
In the calm and deep desert night you can perform astronomy activities with a professional astronomer of Belgian nationality, in a Kasbah equipped for this purpose and with several professional telescopes to which you can add your camera!

Wake up early and enjoy the sunrise from the top of a dune (which can reach 100m high) and feel the clarity that invades the open desert sky. On the horizon, we see the camels, who still sleep peacefully in the sand.
After breakfast, we left for another day full of surprises and new landscapes.
Rissani and Erfoud
Along the way you will pass at Erfoud and Rissani. Rissani is a medieval town that was once quite important for being one of the most important points of the route of commercial caravans that crossed the entire desert dedicated to trade.
Near Erfoud, there are fossil excavations where today are several trilobite fossils among other primitive species. This allows us to conclude that the soil of the Sahara desert was once, long ago, the bottom of an ocean. Here you can also buy original fossils at very low prices.
Ziz Valley
At lunchtime, we will arrive at the huge fertile valley of the Ziz Valley, where you will be greeted with the traditional welcome tea and dates that are created here, and that are unique in the world, for their size and taste. You will be warmly welcomed, as only Moroccans know, and as you find yourself in places without mass tourism in the country. The art of hosting is an ancient tradition in Morocco. You can carry out various activities here, such as a Moroccan cooking workshop with local products of the day that you can pick yourself.
Take the opportunity to explore the Ziz Valley, strolling on foot or donkey with a guide who will show you the most beautiful and paradisaical places of this valley, unknown to mass tourism.
With its genuinely calm environment, and a sense of time being suspended, being in this palm grove is like being in the desert, but surrounded by a lush and harmonious nature.

We leave for Fes. Take the opportunity to make a short stop in Midelt, a village situated between the Great Atlas and the Middle Atlas; an exceptional location to contemplate the lush landscape of the mountains. Along the way, pass through the cedar forest, where you can see the monkeys and all the surrounding Nature.
Visit the magical forests of Azrou and Ifran, where you will be dazzled by their spectacular native nature.
In winter, the snow-covered Middle Atlas is a stunning and photogenic landscape.
By the end of the afternoon, arriving in Fes, where, depending on the trip, you will have time to see the city in one of its splendors, bathed in the soft afternoon light. We will make a brief panoramic tour of the city.

Upon arriving in Chefchaouen, prepare to be enchanted by a cobbled maze unlike any other Moroccan medina. This perfectly ordered labyrinth leads to Hamman Square, the heart of the city where the largest mosque stands as a gathering place for its inhabitants.

If you are willing to get up early you can explore the Rif mountains and the delights of its landscapes without the large tourist groups that invade this place of sublime beauty during the day. The dim light of dawn over the waterfalls of Akchour or the stroll along the “Bridge of God” will allow you to discover stunning landscapes and provide a good location for photographs.
We will then leave for Rabat, a city that grew up in the 14th and 15th centuries, with the expulsion of Andalusians from the Iberian Peninsula. It is surrounded by three walls corresponding to the most remarkable phases of its history: the Almohad Wall, the Andalusian Wall and the Alawite Wall. The guide will show you walls and the main points of the city, such as the Hassan Tower, situated on top of an imposing mosque or the opulent tomb of Mohammed V and the blue and white Oudayas kasbah.
If you are interested in contemporary art, be sure to visit the Mohammed VI museum, which brings together the main Moroccan painters but also works of art.
